This is yet another story about how yoga transformed a life.
I was first introduced to yoga by a classmate at Uni. That was almost 10 years ago and it has been one wild and magical ride ever since. Here’s my story so far:
What started as a physical practice (Hello, 90 min hot power flow classes!) slowly became a path to spiritual growth. Yoga turned out to be so much more than weirdly named shapes. Fast forward to 2016, when I felt the need to deepen my practice and my commitment to my mat. After reading an article about how to choose your Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), I was sold. I took it as a sign that the girl writing the article was also part of the teaching crew at Juna Yoga.
In short, 2017 has been a pivotal year for me: I started my YTT, lost my job (for the second time in 12 months!), reached rock bottom, transformed & graduated from my YYT, ended my 9-year relationship, sold my house, quit everything, left on an amazing journey around the World with my carry-on backpack to figure out who I was & met the love of my life (more about that soon!).
Being unemployed turned out to be the greatest gift I could’ve ever dreamed of. I learned to slow down, tune in and connect with my intuition. Travelling has also allowed me to peel off the unnecessary layers of protection I had added on through the years and become comfortable with my vulnerability. There was nothing wrong with me – I was simply in the wrong environment to bloom.
This journey has completely transformed how I see the World and the impact I want to have before leaving this place. And, to be honest, my practice is 90% off the mat (no funky poses for the Gram), bringing mindfulness, minimalism and sustainability to my daily routine. My mantra is to live more out of intent and less out of habit.
With my teachings, I hope to inspire you to slow down, take a breath (and a break) and create balance in this fast-paced world. You can expect slow flows, deep stretches and Yin classes focusing on your breath and calming the mind. I will kindly encourage you to bring awareness to your body, your mind and practice on and off the mat.
Movement has always been my therapy, but slowing down is an art I developed with yoga.
I can’t thank enough my teachers and the beautiful souls that shared the journey of my first YTT. They have been instrumental in the making of who I am today and a constant inspiration to get out there and share this practice with others, in my own way.
Forever a student of the practice, I find daily inspiration to improve as a teacher and a human being.
